Barrack Obama’s eight year reign as President of the United States of America was fraught with poor leadership, poor domestic policies and an extremely poor foreign policy. with Trump’s Inauguration on the 20th of January 2017 Obama may be forever known as “the worst President in the history of the United States”.
Obama’s Inauguration in 2009 brought with it a sense that USA was in for a massive overhaul in the way that it would be governed by the USA’s first Black President. In some respects, this is true, under the Obama administration the Democrats adopted a non-interventionist presence around the world; he radically changed the country’s healthcare program with Obamacare; and even managed to turn the Job of being President of the most powerful nation on Earth into a Celebrity role.
Between 2009 to 2017, a vital mistake Obama made was that during those 8 years he focused more upon building his own personal brand as a celebrity. Those polarizing appearances on TV Shows such as Jimmy Kimmel and reading ‘mean tweets’ did nothing but prove to the average American worker that the President of the USA cared more about how a few A-list celebrities viewed him instead of those who voted him in. Ironically, Obama chose the form of his own destructor; Donald Trump – wealthy businessman turned TV celebrity – who proved that populism was the best way to win back alienated voters from key States around the USA.
Obama’s Legacy is now at the mercy of President-Elect Donald Trump who has at his disposal a Republican Senate as well as a Republican House of Representatives. It will be here where Obama’s policies will be pulled apart and dissected with the number one target being the disastrous Obamacare. However, one policy that may survive the tenure of Trump could be the legalisation of same-sex marriage. Conservative provocateur, Milo Yiannopolous, was once quoted as saying “Donald Trump is the most pro-gay candidate in American history”.
This may indeed be the case, Trump himself openly participated in support for the LGBTQ community during the back-end of the Presidential Election campaign, as it would play into the hands of anti-Trump groups and would mostly assure the world that Trump would not be reinstated for another four years in 2021.
Overall, Obama ruined a perfect opportunity to assure Democratic rule that stretched far into the future and if Trump has his way with Obama’s policies Barrack Obama will simultaneously be known as the United States of America’s first-ever Black President and the worst President in America’s history.
